Islamabad, Aug 6, 2025: The Punjab Government Recruitment 2025 plan has officially launched with sweeping approvals for new jobs across several departments. In a landmark cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, recruitment was approved in the Right Management Police, Walled City Authority, Punjab Energy Holding Company, Punjab Financial Advisory Services, and the Wildlife & Parks Department. These measures aim to fill critical vacancies and enhance institutional efficiency.
Additionally, contract extensions were granted to employees in the Home, Planning & Development, and Literacy Departments. More than 590 project-based literacy staff and 31 researchers from the Special Protection Unit (SPU) also secured renewals.
The newly passed Punjab Locum Recruitment Act 2025 will now fast-track hiring for medical and administrative roles in public hospitals and health units.
Institutional Reforms & Regulatory Enhancements
To reinforce governance, amendments to the Punjab Drug Rules and Sports Board regulations were approved, along with reforms in the Punjab Charities Commission. The cabinet greenlit the first-ever Punjab Occupational Safety and Health Rules 2024, setting legal protections for sewer line workers and those in construction. A special enforcement wing will now be formed under the Labour Department.
Investment, Infrastructure, and Digital Governance
In a move to attract investors, the cabinet simplified the process for setting up petrol pumps by reducing documentation from 16 to just six via a new online portal. Urban development will also see a boost, with WASA operations expanding to 13 new cities across five divisions. To improve traffic systems, an AI-based traffic flow solution and the Excel Road Management System will be active within 90 days.
Social Welfare, Prison Reforms & Child Protection
Several key social reforms were passed, including a lifelong pension scheme for widows of government employees and paid internships for nurses in public hospitals. Structured work programs for prisoners were also approved, with CM Nawaz calling for fair wages and independent monitoring of prisons.
Anti-child labour efforts gained traction with the passage of the Punjab Restriction on Employment of Children Rules 2024. University governance will also be streamlined through a standardized appointment process for registrars, treasurers, and exam controllers.
Farmer Relief & Environmental Conservation
Punjab’s Kisan Card initiative reported 99% recovery in its first phase, disbursing Rs6.93 billion to over 90,000 farmers. A total of Rs47 billion has already been utilized for input subsidies. To support mechanization, new tractor manufacturing units are in planning.
On the environmental front, the government signed MoUs with the Houbara International Foundation and Deer Foundation International to protect endangered wildlife, with special regulatory policies to safeguard native bird species.
Emergency Assistance and Transparency Push
Emergency relief worth Rs2.6 billion was approved for flood-affected families via PDMA. The rescue services of 1122 were commended for swift disaster response.
