Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced a significant hike in the MDCAT registration fee for 2025, sparking concerns among aspiring medical students and their families. Over the last two years, the fee has surged by 80%, adding more financial pressure to those preparing for medical and dental college admissions.

In 2023, the MDCAT registration fee stood at Rs5,000, which increased to Rs7,000 in 2024. For 2025, PMDC has now set the fee at Rs9,000. Based on last year’s participation of 32,977 candidates, the council is expected to generate nearly Rs2.96 billion in revenue this year.

Test Date and Locations

The MDCAT 2025 will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, simultaneously in Pakistan and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The exam will be organized by the following universities in their respective regions:

  • Punjab: University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore
  • Sindh: Sukkur IBA University
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar
  • Balochistan: Bolan Medical University, Quetta
  • Federal Capital, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan & Overseas (Riyadh): Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad

Registration Schedule & Fee Structure

  • Online Registration: August 8 – August 25, 2025
  • Late Registration Deadline: September 1, 2025

Fee details:

  • Within Pakistan: Rs9,000 (regular), Rs13,000 (late)
  • Riyadh Centre: Rs45,000 (regular), Rs55,000 (late)

All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Test Centres

The exam will be conducted in multiple cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalakot, Swat, Abbottabad, Gilgit, and Riyadh. Candidates must choose a test centre according to their domicile, as changes will not be permitted later.

Exam Pattern

The MDCAT 2025 will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in English, covering:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • English
  • Logical Reasoning

Difficulty level distribution:

  • 15% Easy
  • 70% Moderate
  • 15% Difficult

There will be no negative marking.
