Islamabad, Aug 9, 2025: The Punjab government has made a groundbreaking move in emergency rescue services as the Punjab Home Department has procured state-of-the-art rescue drones designed for high-rise evacuations, fire emergencies, and operations in hard-to-reach areas.

As per the Home Department, these drones can securely airlift individuals stranded in hazardous or inaccessible spots. In a recent trial, the drone successfully lifted a 60-kg dummy to safety. The live demonstration was attended by Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, the Punjab Home Secretary, IG Prisons and other senior officials.

Rafique praised the development as a major advancement for Civil Defense emphasizing that its teams act as first responders during floods, fires and other crises.

The Punjab Home Secretary stated that Civil Defense is undergoing a technological upgrade to align with international standards. He further revealed the upcoming launch of a mobile application to register citizens as Civil Defense volunteers.

This modern drone system is anticipated to significantly improve Punjab’s capacity for rapid, secure, and efficient rescues in complex and dangerous situations.
