Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: Over thirty years after Home Alone turned Macaulay Culkin into a household name, the now 44-year-old actor is clearing the air. Appearing on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones, Culkin addressed long-running fan theories about the 1990 holiday hit and its 1992 sequel.
While he shot down claims that he improvised the iconic line,“You guys give up? Or are you thirsty for more?”, he did admit to adding his own touch in one scene. “When I was at the grocery store, it’s like: ‘Where are your parents? Why won’t you tell me?’ and I said: ‘Because you’re a stranger.’ That one was mine. I did a lot of that kind of stuff,” Culkin shared with host Sean Evans.
The former child star also confirmed a behind-the-scenes rumor about the infamous photo of Buzz “girlfriend.” According to Culkin, it was actually a male crew member son dressed up for comedic effect. “As far as I know, yes, I mean, you’d have to ask Chris, but that’s what I was told. Apparently that was the gag,” he explained, referring to director Chris Columbus.

Culkin stepped away from acting in 1995, a move he has previously described as necessary. Speaking on Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Revelry podcast earlier this year, he said simply, “I was tired.” Today, his rare appearances keep Home Alone fans eager for any glimpse into the making of the timeless classic.
