Islamabad, Aug 9, 2025: The Punjab Schools Education Department has introduced a major policy shift by replacing board exams with a new assessment system for students.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that this updated evaluation method aims to enhance academic results for ninth and tenth graders while also reinforcing essential learning skills from the early grades.
The department confirmed that the eighth-grade assessment will be conducted by PECTA, which will issue a complete set of exam guidelines within the next 20 days.

At the initial stage, this assessment system will be applied in government schools. For private institutions, board exams will become optional, with the next academic session expected in February or March next year.
