Islamabad 10 August: In a glaring bureaucratic blunder, the federal government has appointed a Former judge who passed away in June to a three-year honorary research position.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the appointment of six members to the National Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority (NRKNA).
Among them is Dr Prof. Dr Farkhanda Zia, a former member of the Council of Islamic Ideology, who died on June 22, 2025.
Dr Prof. Farkhanda Zia has been selected, responsible for research in Seerat and religion, with the appointment stated to be effective immediately for a period of three years. All positions are honorary.

The inclusion of a deceased individual in the official list raises serious questions about the vetting process, record-keeping, and coordination within government departments. Critics say such errors not only undermine the credibility of state institutions but also highlight a lack of diligence in administrative affairs.
