Islamabad 10 August: An improvised explosive device (IED) blast derailed six coaches of the Jaffar Express near Spezand in Mastung district, Balochistan, on Sunday, temporarily suspending rail services in the area.
According to railway and security officials, the explosion occurred as the passenger train was en route, but no casualties were reported. Rescue and maintenance teams were dispatched to the site, while security forces cordoned off the area to search for the perpetrators.
The attack is the latest in a series of incidents targeting the Jaffar Express, underscoring persistent security challenges and vulnerabilities in Balochistan’s rail infrastructure. Authorities said repair work on the damaged track was under way to restore train operations.
