Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: YouTube is rolling out a groundbreaking AI-powered age estimation feature starting August 13, 2025, aimed at creating a safer and more personalized viewing experience for its global audience. The platform will use advanced machine learning to determine a user’s age without solely relying on their account’s date of birth.
Initially, the AI age estimation feature will be tested with a select group of users in the United States. The system will analyze multiple factors, including account history, video categories watched, and search behavior, to predict age accuracy. If a user is flagged as potentially underage, YouTube will automatically apply age-specific restrictions to their account.
In situations where the AI cannot confidently determine age, users will be prompted to verify they are over 18 by providing valid identification, such as a government-issued ID or a credit card. YouTube has confirmed that this new AI technology aims to enhance online safety, especially for younger audiences, while tailoring recommendations for a more age-appropriate experience.

Following the U.S. trial, YouTube plans to expand the AI age estimation system to other countries depending on test results. While the update promises better protection, younger viewers might face certain limitations, which could spark mixed reactions. Ultimately, YouTube believes this AI-powered age estimation feature will help maintain a secure digital environment for all users worldwide.
