Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: Punjab’s ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ housing scheme has attracted an overwhelming response, with more than 367,000 applications submitted, provincial officials revealed. Designed to help low- and middle-income families across 19 districts, the initiative focuses on granting land ownership to those who lack permanent housing.

Authorities are currently conducting an initial review of all submissions, with free residential plots to be awarded through a transparent balloting process. In the first stage, Punjab Chief Minister will hand over plots to 2,000 qualifying middle-income households, as confirmed by Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin. Beneficiaries will also have access to interest-free home construction loans of up to Rs 1.5 million through the parallel ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program.

Plot distribution in the first phase includes 730 in Jhelum, 388 in Kasur, 257 in Faisalabad, 218 in Lodhran, and 130 in Okara. Additional allocations are 55 in Layyah, 52 in Bhakkar, 33 in Sahiwal, 25 in Sargodha, 24 in Khushab, 20 in Bahawalnagar, and 15 in Rajanpur. Smaller allotments include 17 in Mandi Bahauddin, 11 in Attock, 8 in Gujrat, 7 in Bahawalpur, 4 each in Vehari and Jhang, and 2 in Chiniot — all for deserving families without homes.
