Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: Indian media report that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may announce the Asia Cup squad which will be around August 19 or 20. The committee of selection is keenly assessing fitness and performance of players in the recent past prior to the setup of the line up. Medical reports will be of much relevance in the end of well fit and ready players in the final squad.
Some of the larger bright names include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, and KL Rahul and are expected to not make it, whereas Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are seen to make it. Shubman Gill has been in good form lately, and thus the tenure as test captain can be assigned to him.
The fitness of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is a possibility of whether he will be included or not. The Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9 followed by Afghanistan versus Hong Kong as the initial contest in Group B.

There will be eight teams organized into two groups (Group A, India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman and Group B, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong). The Pakistan team will have Oman (September 12), India (September 14) and UAE (September 17).
A series in England will be followed by a finalization of the Asia Cup squad after fitness reports come in. The squad will have both veterans and fresh talent that are gearing to fight for the coveted Asia cup trophy.
