Islamabad 12 August: The federal government has auctioned 405 kanals of agricultural land belonging to Ali Riaz Malik, son of property developer Malik Riaz, in connection with the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.
The land, located in Mohra Noor, was sold for Rs3.42 million per kanal during an auction held at the Patwar office in Bhara Kahu. The process was overseen by an official committee under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Uzair Ali.
Ali Riaz, an absconder in the case, saw his property attract multiple bids, in contrast to land owned by another absconder, Farhat Shehzadi alias Farah Gogi, in the same revenue estate, which remained unsold due to lack of interest.
Officials declined to disclose the identity of the successful bidder.
The auction is part of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) broader recovery drive in the Al-Qadir Trust case. Earlier, NAB sold three commercial properties linked to Malik Riaz and Bahria Town — Rubaish Marquee for Rs508 million, Corporate Office-I for Rs876 million (conditional bid), and Corporate Office-II for Rs881.5 million (conditional bid). Other listed properties in Rawalpindi and Islamabad failed to secure buyers.
