Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: The Safe City project in Mirpur AJK will be launched soon in phases to ensure complete safety for residents, District Police Chief SSP Khurram Iqbal said on Monday.
Speaking at the Kashmir Press Club, the newly posted SSP shared that the plan includes advanced surveillance systems, with CCTV cameras at important points to keep watch and control criminal activities.
At present, there are 30 cameras installed in the city, but only six are working. Work is in progress to repair the rest. The SSP also announced the setup of a separate women’s police station, the creation of community policing units, and liaison committees to improve trust between the public and the police.

He made it clear that drug sellers, online criminals, and those using fake IDs to harm people would face strict legal measures. Any police officer found supporting criminals will be punished.
SSP Iqbal urged people to stay alert and report anything suspicious, assuring that his office is always open to the public. He further shared that a new traffic management plan is also being worked on, and called for media support in spreading awareness and improving safety in the district.
