Islamabad, August 12, 2025 — The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially denied the recent announcement made by Islamabad district authorities regarding a public holiday on August 13, 2025. According to the HEC, all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities in Islamabad, will remain open as usual on this date.
Earlier, the Islamabad district administration declared August 13 a “local holiday” within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to facilitate preparations for the upcoming 78th Independence Day celebrations. However, this declaration does not apply to educational institutions, which operate under the jurisdiction of the HEC.

The HEC urged students, teachers, and educational staff to follow only official notifications from authorized government and educational bodies regarding holidays and schedule changes. The commission also cautioned against acting on unofficial announcements or social media posts, warning that such misinformation could cause unnecessary confusion and disruption.
In summary, despite the local holiday declared by Islamabad authorities for August 13, 2025, all educational institutions under HEC supervision will remain open and continue their normal operations on this day.
