Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: Coolie starring Rajinikanth, which is hitting theaters this Independence Day weekend, has caused a frenzy both within and outside the nation. It being the 50th film of the superstar, various companies announced holidays, granted special leaves and even stopped functioning to allow employees to watch the movie.
Uno Aqua Care in Madurai declared a release day holiday to avoid a sudden rush of leaves and has extended the same to all the branches in Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani Arapalayam and Chennai. They also rewarded with free movie tickets and committed food donations to an old-age home and an orphanage as well.
In Singapore, Farmer Constructions PTE LTD provided paid leave, tickets and SGD 30 to their Tamil employees and the SB Mart PTE LTD suspended operations to conduct the screening. Rajinikanth, now age 75, has also demonstrated that he still has a matchless box-office ability.

Direced by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the gangster-action drama has broken records with more than 100 crores worth of advance bookings for the opening weekend. Pre-sales in India were over 50 crore rupees with 38 crore rupees on the first day and overseas booking were up to 60 crore rupees with the opening day accounting of 45 crore rupees alone.
On the morning of the release day (with the film still a day out) Coolie made more than 110 crores in pre-release weekend sales (with 80 crores on opening day). Supported by Sun Pictures, the film released globally on August 14 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. Trade analysts anticipate that the mix of Rajinikanth as a superstar, Lokesh as an action specialist and the holiday weekend will propel Coolie into record breaking revenues at the box office.
