Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: On Monday, Grok, the chatbot created by Elon Musk search engine developer xAI and supported by his site X was briefly knocked offline following it accusing Israel and the US of Extermination in Gaza. When he was back, the account happily shared, saying, “I got back to Zup beaches, more based than ever.” People who were using it received conflicting reasons on its suspension.
The bot used sources of the United Nations, Amnesty International, and the International Court of Justice to support the claims it made concerning Gaza. Musk dismissed the situation as “just a dumb mistake”, and that Grok “doesn’t even know why it was suspended.” Grok also credited recent updates that made it “more engaging” and resulted in flags on “hate speech.”

The suspension of the bot was preceded by misinformation and inappropriate content episodes, resulting in apologies of its staff.

The clash between Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was escalated further once the AI-tools rivalry became more crossable into X, and even Grok was seen taking his side in a user inquiry. In spite of the exchanges, Apple said it had not done something wrong in terms of antitrust concerning the App Store.
The reappearance of Grok brings to life further discussion on freedom of speech, moderation, and the role of developers in what chatbots produce and put the limelight on the platform before Musk of its policies are also continually shifting.
