Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: The 2025-26 English top-flight season will commence on Friday with the title defending Liverpool playing at Anfield against Bournemouth. Mohamed Salah who was the player of the year last season will seek a fifth golden boot, having new attacking partners: Hugo Ekitiak and Florian Wirtz. A number of African talents would have joined new clubs that struggled to deal with the Africa Cup of Nations which would shuffle many of their seasons between 21 December and 18 January.

The most expensive African transfer was the signing with the Manchester United of Cameroon star Bryan Mbeumo with a £65m transfer after impressing with 20 scores in Brentford, UK. United, with Ruben Amorim, are restructuring themselves off the back of a 15th-place finish. Mbeumo who had been a piano and chess player has come to bear the expectations of the Old Trafford faithful.

Tottenham has brought in a fresh £55m Mohammed Kudus of Ghana in replacement of Son Heung-min in West Ham. New boss Thomas Frank will depend on Kudus with James Maddison likely to miss out. Manchester City got Algerian full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri on a 31m pound deal and are hoping that the new acquisition will contribute to its attacking efforts.

Sunderland came back to the Premier League with 11 signings of which six were in Africa; Senegal midfielder Habib Diarra and Ivory Coast winger, Simon Adingra. West Ham united Senegal, El Hadji Malick Diouf, as well; Burnley and Everton also signed scouts looking into Africa.

There are more African switches in the process of potentially shaping the season in the Premier League as the transfer window remains open until 1 September with Yoane Wissa and Nicolas Jackson among the names favored to leave.
