Islamabad 14 August: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the creation of a new Army Rocket Force Command to enhance Pakistan’s defense capabilities, while reiterating his call for political and societal consensus through the Misaq-e-Istehkam-e-Pakistan (Charter for Pakistan’s Stability).

Speaking at a grand ceremony marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Anniversary and Marka-e-Haq at Jinnah Sports Stadium, the premier urged political parties, stakeholders, and civil society to transcend divisions for the sake of national progress.

“The time has come for us to move beyond political division, personal interest and empty slogans to adopt collective thinking for Pakistan,” Shehbaz said. “On this great day, I once again, with an open heart, invite all political parties, stakeholders and civil society to become part of Misaq-e-Istehkam-e-Pakistan.”

The event was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, federal and state ministers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The announcement of the Army Rocket Force Command comes amid the government’s emphasis on strengthening the country’s deterrence and defense structure, with officials highlighting its potential role in modern warfare and strategic security.

In his address, the prime minister framed the Misaq-e-Istehkam-e-Pakistan as a platform to achieve “collective progress through unity, stability, and shared vision,” urging all stakeholders to seize the moment for national cohesion.
