Islamabad, Aug 15, 2025: The right-arm pacer Abbas Afridi of Pakistan has replaced the injured Mohammad Nawaz as a spinner in the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots team in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 that begins on Thursday. It is the debutant since 24-year-old will join the list of Patriots pace resources with fellow Pakistan player Naseem Shah.
Afridi who has made a difference in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has taken 60 wickets in 40 matches since joining in 2021. Because he started with Karachi Kings, had a successful tour with Multan Sultans, and despite that, he returned to Karachi in 2025.
In international cricket, he also played with Fortune Barishal in the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League where he took two wickets in three matches. Seven Pakistan players will be playing in the CPL 2025. Mohammad Amir who has 51 wickets in 39 CPL matches will play under Trinbago Knight Riders including debutant Usman Tariq.

Imad Wasim is back at Antigua and Barbuda Falcons having been released followed by a re-signing, and Guyana Amazon Warriors have snapped up spin all-rounder Hasan Khan, who is said be looking to cross over to USA cricket.
In place of Nawaz comes Afridi who will give the Patriots hope of taking wickets in its quest to win matches. His co-occurrence with Naseem Shah might prove to be a contributing factor as the team looks forward to a vibrant beginning in CPL 2025.
