Islamabad 15 August: The government has announced national civil awards for 13 journalists in recognition of their contributions to the field of journalism.
These awards will be given officially at the Investiture Ceremony on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2026. The beneficiaries cut across different fields such as science, education, literary, sports, journalism, social welfare, and philanthropy.
According to the official list, Mr. Ihtasham ul Haq will receive the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the highest among the journalism-related awards this year. Mr. Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has been honoured with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in the Journalism/Columnist category, while Mr. Sarmad Ali will also receive the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

A number of prominent journalists will be conferred with the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, including Mr. Samar Abbas, Mr. Adil Abbasi, Ms. Kiran Naz, Ms. Binish Saleem, Mr. Kamran Hamid Raja, Ms. Mona Alam, Mr. Muhammad Tariq Aziz, Mr. Arshad Ansari, Mr. Abdul Mohi Shah (for Journalism – Sports), and Ms. Shazia Sikandar.
The awards acknowledge exceptional work in reporting, analysis, sports journalism, and editorial contributions, reflecting the diversity of Pakistan’s media landscape.
The civil awards are given annually by the President of Pakistan to individuals from various fields who have demonstrated outstanding service to the nation.
