Islamabad, Aug 15, 2025: Torrential rains in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have triggered widespread destruction, forcing the government to close schools for two days.
Flood-related disasters have claimed eight lives, injured three people, and washed away six bridges along with several key roads. Power and telephone services remain cut off in the upper regions.

During a meeting chaired by the AJK prime minister, authorities approved financial compensation for the affected families. In Neelum Valley, torrential rains have stranded hundreds of tourists at Ratti Gali and Patliyan.
Officials confirmed the visitors are safe, and rescue operations are scheduled to begin today.
