Islamabad, Aug 15, 2025: In Abbottabad Boi area, a rare leopard was found injured by the roadside but was beaten to death by villagers instead of being helped. The animal had come out of the nearby forest and wandered into a village within the Bakoat police station area.
Witnesses said the leopard looked weak and half-unconscious. People tied a rope around its neck, dragged it on the road, and even pulled it by the tail for miles. Many took videos and selfies, later sharing them on social media. Some villagers said they attacked the leopard to take revenge for goats killed by wild leopards in recent months.

Police arrived from the Boi checkpoint and managed to take the animal, but it died shortly after reaching the police post. The Wildlife Department later took its body.
Villagers claimed leopards had killed dozens of goats recently, but wildlife officials said the animal might have been poisoned or had a brain infection caused by a dangerous virus.
