Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting on Friday to review progress on clean drinking water projects and other key development schemes across the province.
Officials briefed her on the Model Village Project, Lahore Development Project, and Punjab Development Project. A major focus of the session was the installation of water treatment plants in far-flung areas.
The chief minister fixed June 30, 2026, as the deadline for their completion and directed that a proper system be introduced for construction, repair and long-term upkeep. She underlined that solving public complaints about the shortage of safe drinking water should remain a top priority.
Maryam Nawaz also checked progress on road and street development under the Lahore Development Project. Expressing displeasure over delays in some schemes, she ordered authorities to speed up the work.
