Unfinished patchwork on Canal Bank Road has become a nightmare for commuters, causing long traffic jams, rising pollution, and frequent accidents. The busy road, stretching from Thokar to Harbanspura, has been dug up in patches, forcing vehicles to move in zigzag patterns.
The situation is most severe near the Jinnah Hospital underpass, FC College underpass, and Jail Road underpass, where motorists are often trapped in long queues for hours. Drivers complain that despite the large-scale work, no clear warning signs such as “Work in Progress” or “Construction Ahead” have been placed. Citizens say the absence of signboards puts lives at risk, especially at night, when visibility is low.
Adding to the frustration, residents claim they have no information about which department is carrying out the patchwork. Many have taken to social media, tagging Punjab’s chief minister, the chief secretary, and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officials, demanding immediate action. Commuters insist that authorities must install visible signage on Canal Bank Road and its connecting routes so drivers can plan alternate paths.

A similar problem is emerging on Bund Road, where sewer line installation has left traffic in chaos. Despite earlier directions from senior officials that all road projects must display warning boards, poor monitoring has turned several parts of Lahore into traffic hotspots.
Frustrated citizens say the government must ensure proper safety measures and strict oversight to avoid accidents and smooth traffic flow across the city.
