Pakistan and China held the 10th Round of Bilateral Consultations on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament in Beijing, engaging in an extensive exchange of views on global and regional security challenges.
The talks were led by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Additional Secretary of the Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security Division at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sun Xiaobo, Director General of the Department of Arms Control at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, both sides reviewed the evolving security environment in South Asia, with a particular focus on strategic stability and emerging challenges to peace.
The consultations covered a wide array of disarmament and non-proliferation issues, including discussions on the agenda of the UN General Assembly First Committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and major international treaties such as the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) and the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
Delegations also examined the security implications of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology and outer space.

During his visit, Ambassador Andrabi participated in an interactive roundtable hosted by the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA), attended by former diplomats, scholars, and think tank experts.
The Pakistan-China dialogue on arms control is regarded as a central component of the broader strategic partnership between the two countries, providing a platform for meaningful consultations on disarmament, non-proliferation, and security stability.
The two sides agreed to continue the momentum of these discussions, with the next round of consultations scheduled to be held in Islamabad in 2026.
