The CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 is one of the most ambitious green transport projects in Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that 1,100 electric taxis will be introduced on easy, interest-free instalments.
The scheme is set to launch in August 2025 with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) managing the application process through a dedicated online portal.
The scheme aims to improve public transport, generate jobs and reduce air pollution in major cities. A special feature is that 30 electric taxis will be reserved for women, giving them a safe entry into the transport sector.
To make participation easier, the Punjab government will cover the markup, token tax and registration charges, leaving drivers to only pay basic instalments.
