Karachi | August 20, 2025 — Pakistan has extended its airspace ban on Indian-registered aircraft until September 23, 2025, according to a fresh NOTAM issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The restriction, first imposed on April 23, 2025, has now been extended multiple times amid regional tensions. India, in a reciprocal move, had also barred Pakistani aircraft from its airspace until August 23, 2025.

Under the updated NOTAM, Indian state-owned and private airlines, as well as aircraft registered or leased in India, remain prohibited from using Pakistani airspace. The ban applies to both passenger and cargo flights, along with military operations.

Aviation experts note that the closure has forced Indian airlines to take longer detours, raising costs and extending flight times. Some long-haul routes have been curtailed as a result.

The extension highlights the ongoing aviation standoff between the two countries, despite partial reopening of other regional air corridors in recent months.
