The 2019 movie Gully Boy by the director Zoya Akhtar created a storm and the film won many recognitions and most importantly huge popularity at the box office. The popularity of the movie is in large part contributed by the good acting of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Vijay Raaz. Nevertheless, an actress who has a long record of successful performances confessed that she rejected the chance when she was ordered to give an audition.
Marathi screen queen Usha Nadkarni whose works include such hit items as Pavitra Rishta, Vaastav and Rustom revealed that she was being called up by a production group asking her to audition. “They asked me to come for an audition.I asked, ‘What have I done in 78 years that you want me to audition?’”Usha recalled. She stated that she never used auditions but she has always used her existing body of work. She crudely hinted that they should google her credentials when she was told that Zoya Akhtar was directing the film.
She did not reveal the exact character, but it is postulated that she was up contention to played one of the mothers of Ranveer Singh, who was done by Amruta Subhash.

The street rappers, DIVINE and Naezy inspired the co-writer of Gully Boy, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. It was billed by Tiger Baby Films and Excel Entertainment and featured an all-star cast which earned 235.7 crores on a global scale, securing its cultural and financial heritage.
Despite the iconic cast, it is fascinating to envision Zoya Akhtar masterwork featuring Usha Nadkarni, playing a key role- demonstrating that sometimes, legends walk away before there is any history to make.
