The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Tuesday that mobile operators are offering complimentary on-net voice calls to users in flood-affected areas. This initiative is part of a wider relief effort to maintain communication amid disruptions caused by severe flooding.

In this plan, its subscribers are able to make same network calls even when they have no mobile balance. The relocation centers on assisting the people of affected areas to continue to communicate with family and emergency assistance despite the damaged infrastructure and scarce economic funds.

According to PTA, this has seen more than 72 percent of the affected telecom sites restored and much effort is still underway to make the rest operational. Authority stressed that they will keep a close eye on the situation and update it to maintain the information given to the population on the Internet.
