Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that the provincial government will take strict action against schools consistently producing poor results in matric examinations.
The announcement comes after all Punjab educational boards declared the Class 9 results on August 20, 2025, sparking fresh debate on the quality of education and teacher accountability in the province.
In a post shared on X, formerly know as Twitter, the minister said the School Education Department has started a complete analysis of Grade 9 and 10 results, identifying schools that have performed poorly year after year. He added that such institutions, which cost the province “billions of rupees with almost zero output,” may face removal of staff members as punishment.

The minister said he has begun accountability from his own hometown, Tehsil Patoki, where a list of low-performing schools has already been prepared based on this year’s results announced yesterday.
At the same time, he assured that high-performing teachers and schools will be rewarded for their contribution to students’ success.

This latest statement follows an earlier warning issued by Rana Sikandar Hayat after the Class 10 results were announced on July 24, 2025. At the time, he had cautioned schools and teachers with “horrible” Grade 9–10 and 11–12 results to “start worrying,” while promising incentives for those achieving academic excellence.
