The Government of Punjab has officially opened registrations for the CM Punjab Green Credit Program, an environmental initiative launched by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EP&CCD). The program aims to promote climate-friendly practices among organizations and institutions by offering financial incentives and official recognition.
Under the scheme, registered organizations that carry out climate-positive activities can earn Green Credits, each worth PKR 10,000 with a maximum earning potential of PKR 100,000. In addition to financial rewards, organizations will also receive Punjab Green Badges in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories based on their level of contribution.
Qualifying activities for Green Credits include tree plantation, waste recycling, use of solar-powered appliances and rainwater harvesting. These efforts are designed to encourage sustainable living and reduce environmental impact.
The program is currently being run as a pilot project in Lahore with plans for gradual expansion to other districts across Punjab. Its long-term objective is to foster environmental responsibility among the public and private sectors.
