The Sindh Government has announced a major step to support women in the workforce by launching a scheme to provide 10,000 free electric motorcycles to female industrial workers. The initiative was introduced by Provincial Labor Minister Shahid Thaheem, who highlighted its role in promoting women’s empowerment and sustainable transport.

According to the Sindh Workers Welfare Board (WWB), online registration has officially started through the portal www.wwbsindh.gov.pk. The scheme is open to women aged 20 to 45 years working in the industrial sector, with a special 20% quota reserved for minority communities.

Applicants will be selected through a transparent digital balloting system, ensuring fairness and eliminating human interference. Successful candidates will have 60 days to secure a valid driving license before receiving their motorcycles.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Thaheem emphasized that empowering women with safe and dignified transport is crucial for Pakistan’s progress. He also noted that the inclusion of minorities reflects the government’s acknowledgment of their valuable contributions.
