Chairman Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) Chaudhry Tariq Subhani has announced that a new system has been introduced to make overseas Pakistanis property buying and selling easier and more secure.
Speaking at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said the initiative was launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to permanently resolve long-standing issues faced by Pakistanis living abroad.
He explained that overseas Pakistanis can now buy or sell property through Pakistani embassies abroad. The service has already started at the Pakistani Embassy in London and will gradually expand to other countries with large Pakistani communities.
This step will save expatriates from the hassle of traveling to Pakistan, applying for long leaves, or relying on Power of Attorney, which has often been misused in the past.
Subhani added that PLRA has implemented an international-standard ownership audit trail. Under this system, every property transaction will be verified through NADRA, and a “green certificate” will be issued. This certificate will guarantee that the land is legally protected, free from disputes over ownership or possession, and will also carry a geo-tagged barcode to further ensure transparency.

He also said that properties not yet linked with NADRA records are being brought into the system. Once verified, these will also receive green certificates, making the overall process of property transfer safer and more reliable.
President of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Ikram-ul-Haq, congratulated Subhani and expressed confidence that this new system will eliminate fraud in the property sector. He said the move will give both overseas Pakistanis and local buyers peace of mind when dealing in real estate.
The meeting was also attended by MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, Additional Director General Farooq Akmal, senior officials, and a large number of business community members.
