The Lahore Police will soon deploy drone technology to monitor and manage traffic jams across the city. The initiative, launched by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), is designed to improve traffic flow and provide rapid responses to congestion.
According to officials, the project will begin in late September, with an initial fleet of ten drones equipped with high-resolution cameras. These drones will monitor key traffic hotspots where jams frequently occur.
The live drone feed will be directly linked to traffic wardens’ LTE handsets, enabling them to respond immediately and clear blockages on-site. Authorities believe that this real-time aerial monitoring will significantly reduce delays and make travel easier for road users.
Officials also confirmed that the number of drones will be gradually increased in the coming months to expand coverage across Lahore’s busiest roads and intersections.
