Tourism in Murree is set for a major boost as the Punjab government has cleared feasibility studies for two flagship projects — a Sky Walk Glass Bridge worth Rs 72.152 million and a Chairlift & Cable Car from Lakot to Pindi Point costing Rs 90 million. These projects are expected to enhance Murree’s appeal as a leading hill station for both local and international visitors.

The approval came during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Planning & Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf. The session also gave the green light to a Cable Car project at River Indus, Kala Bagh, Mianwali, with an allocation of Rs 81.571 million.

In addition to tourism-related schemes, the PDWP sanctioned several other projects across Punjab, carrying a combined estimated cost of Rs 5.118 billion. These include:

  • Construction of a road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool via Lawa, District Chakwal (Rs 1.374 billion)
  • Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme (Rs 1 billion)
  • A feasibility study for a theme park in Lahore (Rs 200 million)
