Rabi’ al-Awwal Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – August 23, 2025: The new moon of the Islamic month Rabi’ al-Awwal has been officially sighted in Saudi Arabia, marking the beginning of the month. Following the moon sighting, preparations for religious events and celebrations commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will begin across the kingdom.

The Saudi Department of Astronomy confirmed the sighting and advised citizens that the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal will officially start in accordance with Islamic tradition. Religious scholars and local authorities are coordinating events and prayers to observe the sacred month.
