An international conference titled “Jammu and Kashmir in the Current International Political Scenario” was held at the European Press Club Brussels, bringing together diplomats, political leaders, academics, and activists to discuss the decades-long Kashmir conflict.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, attended as Chief Guest and emphasized in his keynote address that sustainable peace in South Asia is impossible without resolving the Kashmir issue in line with United Nations resolutions and the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for Kashmir’s struggle against Indian occupation.

Kundi also briefed participants on his recent meetings with senior European officials, where he highlighted Pakistan’s climate-related losses and called for greater international engagement.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, reiterated Islamabad’s firm stance on Kashmir and assured continued support for the Kashmiri people at diplomatic forums.

Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, drew attention to ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging the global community, particularly the European Union, to press India to end its repression.

Other speakers included senior Kashmiri leader Sardar Sadiq, Faseeh Shah, Dr. Zahoor Manzoor, Councilor Muhammad Nasir, Asad Nawaz of the UK Peoples Party, Sardar Amina Khan, and Mustafa Khan. The session, moderated by Chaudhry Imran Saqib, concluded with a unanimous appeal for stronger international efforts to secure a just and peaceful settlement in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

On the sidelines of the event, Belgian journalist Cedric Gerbehaye’s book “Kashmir: Wait and See”—featuring photographs and firsthand accounts from the region—was presented to Governor Kundi and Ambassador Qureshi. Ali Raza Syed also announced the official book launch scheduled for September 5 at the International Book Fair in Paris.
