The Balochistan government has expanded its Balochistan Awami Endowment Fund (BAEF) to provide free medical treatment and life-saving medicines for needy patients across the province.
According to the Social Welfare Department, the programme has become a major support for families who cannot afford expensive healthcare. With Rs. 7 billion allocated, the fund is covering treatment worth about Rs. 90 million every month.
Patients suffering from cancer, kidney and liver transplants, heart conditions, and thalassaemia are among the main beneficiaries. The scheme’s free medical model is designed to remove financial hurdles for low-income households.
