Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced that modern smart technologies will not kill jobs but they will radically change the face of the job global markets put pressure on young talent to be skilled with top-notch digital tools. Addressing the Cadet College Hasan Abdal, she stressed that the opportunity in the future is going to favor those who will be able to use emerging technology efficiently.

Through a newly signed MoU with the college, the best students will get specialized training and internships in cybersecurity, coding, content technology, and advanced digital systems. The minister suggested the establishment of a joint steering committee to oversee the implementation of the MoU and see to it that progress is made continually. Another concern, which needs to be discussed, is the role of teacher training; by investing in education through the development of educator capacity in novel technologies, one will guarantee that whole generations will be ready to work in industries of the future.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja stressed that youth skills are crucial for Pakistan’s digital transformation. The government also targets to connect all schools and other district units within Islamabad to high-speed broadband fiber-optic internet in order to facilitate e-classrooms. Digitalization will run into health, property, and educational records so that any services will be more efficient and transparent. When more than 60 percent of the Pakistani population is aged younger than 30, supporting skills education, such as the Digital Skills Program, which aims to train one million students this year, will empower the young people to seize an opportunity in a global economy.

Through the adoption of smart technologies, the quality and expertise of Pakistani citizens will drive global labor markets in the future, the Minister emphasized, articulating the national desire to continue the digitalization trend and prepare people to meet the demands of the labor market.
