Light to moderate earthquake tremors were strongly felt across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday evening, prompting residents in Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, and adjacent areas to evacuate buildings and head outdoors amid widespread alarm.
So far, there have been no reported casualties or significant property damage. Authorities are monitoring the situation and reviewing seismological data to determine the quake’s epicenter and magnitude.
In recent seismic activity across the region, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of KP—including Swat and Chitral—earlier this month. The quake’s epicenter was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, at a depth of 190 km. No casualties were reported from that event either. Dawn
