The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has dispatched midnight notices to Karachi students in a current probe into the alleged result manipulation at the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK). Sources state that students were summoned by their schools, and they were ordered to present themselves at the ACE West office. Parents were outraged when some of the candidates including females were requested to meet at around 12:30 am. How should we send the girls to ACE office in the middle of the night? questioned concerned guardians.

The investigation, which has lasted more than a year, investigates supposedly changed results of 2022 examination of intermediate results. Although the investigation was protracted, ACE has not filed charges against senior BIEK officials. Two former chairmen and two exam controllers had been charged previously but not a single concrete evidence was discovered.

Students are being directly questioned, many of whom are now obtaining higher education after passing MDCAT and NED entrance exams. In January 2025, interim BIEK chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah constituted an inquiry committee to check on the contested results, to maintain transparency and to address complaints in timely manner. This was to encourage students and parents to post grievances to be redressed, but with emphasis on impartiality and fairness.

With the midnight notices to Karachi students by ACE persisting, authorities underline the significance of collaboration to sustain transparency and academic integrity. Parents are still worried, demanding procedural fairness and the right time.
