The Prime Minister (PM) Youth Laptop Scheme which planned to provide 100,000 free laptops to students across the country has been postponed following the devastating floods in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials from the Prime Minister Youth Programme (PMYP), the laptop distribution drive was earlier scheduled to begin in July 2025. However, the heavy rains and university closures across Pakistan have caused the event to be delayed by two weeks now.

The government confirmed that a revised schedule will be announced soon once conditions improve in the affected regions. Authorities assured that laptops will still be delivered to eligible students under the scheme aimed at boosting digital literacy among the youth.

The floods have damaged infrastructure, displaced thousands and disrupted normal life in Punjab, KPK, GB and AJK. Relief operations are underway while the concerned department works to reschedule the laptop handover so that deserving students can benefit from the initiative without further delay.

Students are advised to follow official PMYP announcements for the updated distribution timeline.
