The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to end the city first bike lane project on Ferozepur Road after it created more problems than solutions for daily commuters.
The pilot scheme was launched between Kalma Chowk and Lahore Bridge, where separate lanes for motorcycles were built using curb-stone dividers. The idea was to improve traffic flow, but instead, it caused heavy congestion on one of Lahore’s busiest routes.
Officials confirmed that the dividers from one side of the road have already been removed, linking the motorcycle lane back to the main traffic. The remaining section from Lahore Bridge towards Kalma Chowk will also be dismantled in the coming week.

Although the dividers are being taken down, the painted markings and bike lane symbols will remain visible for now. Authorities admitted the experiment failed to deliver the expected results, leading to its early closure.
