Punjab flood rescue operations have intensified as provincial authorities use thermal imaging drone technology to locate people and livestock trapped by rising waters.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz shared footage from drone feeds showing residents and animals stranded in areas affected by swelling rivers.

In a post on X, she explained that the technology is helping monitor districts including Sialkot, Sargodha, Gujrat and Jhang. Since most of the Punjab is now CCTV monitored, thermal imaging drone technology was used to spot & track stranded citizens and livestock,” she said.

The Safe City Authority has coordinated over 800 successful rescue cases enabling emergency teams to reach residents quickly.

Floods have turned towns and villages into waterways, sweeping away homes and cutting off roads. Many people are taking refuge on rooftops while others wade through waist-deep water carrying essential belongings.

The Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab rivers have continued to rise while temporary embankments have failed in several areas, worsening the situation.
