Floodwater in Lahore’s Park View City has breached protective barriers, forcing authorities to issue immediate evacuation alerts.

The temporary embankments of the housing scheme collapsed, allowing water from the Ravi River to rush into the Crystal Block of Park View Society. Rising levels have created severe threats to lives and property, pushing residents to abandon their homes.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, “extremely high floods” were recorded in the Ravi River at Shahdara and the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala, while Chiniot has been placed on high alert due to surging water in the Chenab River.

Latest official data revealed that by 11 pm, water discharge at Shahdara touched 219,770 cusecs, while Balloki Headworks reported heavy flooding with an outflow of 112,955 cusecs. At Jassar, the Ravi carried 97,500 cusecs, signaling a medium flood.

The FFD further confirmed that the Chenab River at Chiniot Bridge surged to 674,000 cusecs, marking an “exceptionally high flood” situation. Additional pressure was also reported at Head Marala and Khanki, where flood levels remained dangerously high.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging people in affected areas to shift to safer locations. The threat posed by floodwater in Lahore’s Park View City highlights the urgency of precautionary measures as rivers across Punjab swell.
