Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday visited flood-affected areas in the Sialkot sector, including Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, to review ongoing relief operations and preparations for the next spell of monsoon rains, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
Upon arrival, COAS Munir was received by the Corps Commander Gujranwala and briefed on the flood situation, rescue efforts, and the coordinated response of civil and military teams. He praised their tireless work in rescuing stranded people and providing timely relief in challenging conditions, while also commending the high morale and readiness of troops deployed in the area.
During his visit, the Army chief directly interacted with the Sikh community, who welcomed him warmly and thanked the Pakistan Army for its support. General Munir assured them that all religious sites damaged by the floods, including the Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, would be fully restored to their original condition on priority.

“It is the responsibility of the state and its institutions to protect the rights and worship places of all minorities. Pakistan will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling this duty,” he emphasized.
COAS Munir also conducted an aerial survey of Darbar Sahib Kartarpur and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing restoration and protective measures. In a meeting with civil administration officials, he lauded their proactive response, which helped reduce casualties and safeguard vital infrastructure.
