The Karachi Traffic Police has imposed a ban on heavy traffic across the city on Rabi ul Awal 11 and 12, falling on September 6 to ensure smooth movement during Eid Milad un Nabi processions. Officials said the decision was made to avoid congestion and protect citizens as large rallies and religious gatherings are expected.
Authorities noted that the restriction will apply to main routes as well as connecting roads, which are likely to remain busy throughout the two days. The step is aimed at reducing risks and maintaining safety for participants.
The ban comes at a time when Karachi has witnessed a sharp rise in deadly road mishaps. In 2025 alone, at least 555 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents, with 169 deaths caused by heavy vehicles.
