Pakistan flood alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department and the Flood Control Cell, warning of extremely dangerous water levels in the Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, and nearby rivers.
Heavy rainfall is forecast in the upper catchments of these rivers between September 2 and 3. Due to continuous rains in India, especially in Madhya Pradesh, the chances of severe flooding in Pakistan’s rivers have increased significantly.
Authorities have cautioned that low-lying regions of Sialkot and Narowal face serious risk. Residents are strongly advised to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by the concerned institutions, including the Board of Revenue and the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
The flood forecast report highlights that under the influence of a monsoon system over northern Madhya Pradesh, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the upper basins of the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi from September 2–3.
- Exceptionally high flood levels will persist in the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala.
- The Chenab River at Trimmu is expected to reach extremely high levels within the next 24 hours.
- The Chenab River at Panjnad may hit very high flood levels by September 3.
