Deputy Commissioner Lahore has officially declared that educational institutions in the city will reopen on September 1, after being shut due to the recent spell of heavy rains and flooding.
As per the notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, all schools in Lahore are directed to resume classes from September 1. However, schools situated in flood-hit zones or those buildings currently functioning as relief shelters will remain closed until fresh instructions are issued.
Parents and students have been urged to stay in touch with school authorities for timely updates regarding schedules and any further changes. The district management also stressed that every educational institute must strictly follow the directions provided by the Education Department.
Meanwhile, sporadic showers continued across Lahore and surrounding regions today, intensifying fears of urban flooding, particularly in low-lying localities. The Meteorological Department has also predicted additional rainfall within the next 24 hours, which may further worsen the situation in Punjab.
Several districts of Punjab are still reeling from the devastation caused by torrential downpours. In Nankana Sahib, severe rainfall submerged markets and streets under water. A heart-wrenching tragedy occurred in a nearby village where a roof collapse killed a woman and two young girls, while three others sustained injuries.
