Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has warned that the province must brace for a “super flood” as the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) forecasts a water flow of up to 1.1 million cusecs.

Speaking to reporters in Kashmore, the CM said that if water levels rise to 900,000 or 1 million cusecs, low-lying kachcha areas could be completely submerged. He stressed the urgent need to protect both human lives and livestock, adding that this information has already been shared with district administrations.

Murad Ali Shah directed district authorities to coordinate closely with NDMA, confirming that Army units are on standby for assistance. He noted that NDMA has provided 192 rescue boats to support evacuation efforts.

The chief minister said safeguarding lives, livestock, and vital infrastructure including barrages and embankments must be the top priority. He expressed hope that water levels would start receding within 48 hours, allowing displaced families to return home.

He further assured that under PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s instructions, housing will be provided to those who lose shelters in kachcha areas, while compensation will be given to farmers whose crops are destroyed.

Appealing for patience, Shah reassured the public that the government stands firmly with them during this crisis.
