Pakistan has initiated a polio campaign in the country, which will cover over 28 million children below the age of five. It is a massive project that employs more than 240,000 health care professionals, and they are all helping to keep children safe against paralysis throughout their lives because of polio.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center, more than 4.1 million children in 7 districts will receive the vaccination in Punjab; however, the program will not be implemented in 9 flood-afflicted districts. The coverage of drive in Sindh is 25 districts, which is almost 8.9 million children and Balochistan will do 26 districts, which reach more than 2.1 million kids. A total of 27 districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will administer 5.7 million children in polio drops, and the southern KP campaign will start September 15.
Included in this significant endeavor are 2 districts each in Azar Jammu and Kashmir and in Gilgit-Baltistan and the 450,000 children in Islamabad. Health agents are pressurizing all parents to give maximum cooperation to the vaccination teams to see that their children get the necessary two drops of the vaccine.

This anti-polio campaign does not only help in protecting the health of children but also helps in enhancing the efforts by Pakistan in eliminating polio in the country. Parents are advised to be actively involved and prevent their children to be handicapped throughout their life.
